A Rewarding, Low Time Commitment Role
MedNet is looking for its next Treasurer, which is a great opportunity for a member who enjoys simple bookkeeping and wants to contribute to the smooth running of network. The role is voluntary; however in recognition of the commitment of Committee members, from 2026 each will receive one free workshop place every year.
What the Treasurer Does
Thanks to MedNet’s highly capable and collaborative committee, the Treasurer’s responsibilities are streamlined and very manageable. Subscriptions are handled automatically through our website—originally designed by Arline Lyons and now expertly coordinated by Nicole Hawkesford—while workshop fees are processed efficiently via Universe. Membership Coordinator Eva Niederstebruch oversees subscriptions and renewals, ensuring everything runs smoothly.
With these systems in place, the Treasurer’s work focuses mainly on light bookkeeping: monitoring the current, savings and PayPal accounts, and preparing the annual Statement of Accounts each November. Income is largely automated, with only small amounts of interest to record. Expenditure is equally straightforward. The Treasurer processes payments for venue hire, catering, speaker fees and incidental workshop costs, as well as settling claims for our mentorship and bursary schemes. Additional routine payments include Groups.io, Zoom, website hosting and equipment, plus our annual charitable donations.
Why Apply
No specialist financial skills or technology are required. You just need to be comfortable with basic arithmetic, willing to keep an eye on the accounts and, ideally, based in the UK. The role typically takes only a few hours per month, with full support from fellow committee members and a smooth handover guaranteed as Shirley eases you into the role before she shelves her calculator for good.
